Telone mobile coming soon as Telone gets mobile licence

ZIMBABWE will soon have a fourth mobile phone operator after the state-owned fixed phone company, TelOne, was granted a licence.
TelOne's fixed phone service has failed to keep up with the pace of mobile phone users, and the company's new strategy appears aimed at dipping into both services.
The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, which grants licences, revealed on Monday that TelOne put in its application for a Global System for Mobile Communications frequency last year.
"We allocated them those frequencies and they can now start rolling out their mobile phone services to the public," said POTRAZ's deputy director-general Alfred Marisa.
TelOne – which currently has 300,000 fixed phone line customers - will join Econet Wireless, Telecel and the state-owned NetOne in the mobile phone industry.
But industry analysts say the company needs major recapitalisation to fund its expansion.
