The country's two major network providers - Econet Wireless and NetOne Cellular - have finally entered into an agreement which will see reconnection of the interconnections between the two network providers.
NetOne made an urgent chamber application before Justice Ben Hlatshwayo challenging the disconnection of interconnection services with Econet.
The applicant said the disconnections are illegal and sought the court to make an order to resolve the dispute.
However, High Court Judge Justice Hlatshwayo ruled that the two parties as corporate must make an arrangement to make sure that subscribers will not be affected by the wrangles between the two network providers.
The decision by the judge saw both parties seeking an adjournment inorder to make some private arrangements.
After they adjourned, both parties came with an agreement which will see the respondent reconnecting the applicant with immediate effect.
However, the agreements which were presented before the judge will see the terms of the consent order remaining, pending judgement of the main application and the court shall set a date for hearing of the matter.
Under the agreement, the parties agreed to carry on with business in terms of the 2004 interconnection agreement subject to tariffs fixed by the regulator as at first of September this year.
According to State papers, Econet disconnected NetOne over an alleged debt of $19 million. However, NetOne is disputing the amount.
The misunderstandings between the two resulted in disconnection of services and the move has been challenged by NetOne which say the disconnections are illegal.
