Nyambirai steps down as Econet chairman with immediate effect

Tawanda Nyambirai has announced that he is stepping down as chairman and member of the Econet Wireless Zimbabwe board with immediate effect.
It was also announced that Econet now has close to 100% shareholding in TN bank while in return Nyambirai is now a minority shareholder in Econet.
James Mayer has been appointed the new chairman.
Justifying his decision, Nyambirai said because of his investment in Econet he will "cease" to be an independent director adding that his position will be compromised hence he is leaving the company.
Econet Wireless Global CE Craig Fitzgerald who was at the meeting thanked Nyambirai for the time he served on the board and recently as chairman of the mobile telecoms giant.
Nyambirai said he will be a director in Econet Wireless Global.
