Econet Wireless plans to venture into the gas business in December according to sources.
The paper provides a quote from communications manager Ranga Mberi who does not confirm or deny the developments but says Econet continues to explore business opportunities that complement its growth strategy.
Meanwhile, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe will today launch a water purifying firm, Seldom Water Zimbabwe.
Sector Water Zimbabwe is part of Seldom Water Africa, which was established following an investment in Seldom Technologies, a US firm, by the Econet Wireless Group in June last year.
Posting on his official facebook account last year, ECZ boss strive Masiyiwa said the cellular network operator was going where the need is greatest and the help smallest.
Econet's interest in Seldom stems from the potential for Nanomesh to solve one of Africa's greatest problems, access to clean drinking water.
Masiyiwa said as Africans we are going to be part of the global business world until we are prepared to participate in it adding that he always encourage executives to look for opportunities anywhere in the world, including America.
