Zimbabwe mobile telecoms operators are facing a tough financial year ahead with voice revenues and profitability likely to take a further knock as the government will effect a further voice tariff reduction.

A further tariff reduction has scheduled for January 2016 and another one in January 2017 to 9 cents per minute by the telecom regulator Potraz.

The proposed reduction to come into effect in January 2016 will be from 15 cents to 12 cents per minute.

Zimbabwean telcos are experiencing an 'ongoing trend towards data' which is likely to continue in the short to medium term outlook period due to the increased uptake of social media and increased broadband usage.
