Econet to disconnect cellphone lines

ZIMBABWE's largest mobile network operator with over 9 million subscribers, Econet Wireless Zimbabwe, says it will disconnect all Econet lines that have not been in use for the past six months effective from the 24th of June 2015.
In an advertisement in today's daily papers, Econet said, "Please be advised that all Econet lines that have not been in use for the past six (6) months will be disconnected from the network effective from the 24th of June 2015. To avoid disconnection we kindly request you to recharge your inactive Buddie line with airtime of any amount/value."
With over 9 million subscribers Econet is the dominant mobile operator representing over 65.3% of the mobile market.
Zimbabwe's penetration rate has increased from 74% in 2012 to the current 106%.
