Econet introduces Ecocash airtime credit service

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has introduced airtime credit service via EcoCash to assist users in times of emergency.

The innovation which is the first of its kind in Zimbabwe, means that an Econet customer can use EcoCash or the EcoCash App to borrow airtime in denominations from $0,30 cents to $0,75 cents depending on a customer's historical usage.

Econet Wireless is for the first time introducing this airtime credit service which will allow more than 5 million customers to borrow airtime.

EcoCash general manager Natalie Jabangwe said given the recent cash shortages being faced in Zimbabwe, this service makes it possible for EcoCash airtime subscribers to quickly purchase airtime in the case of an emergency.

She said repayments can always be made from EcoCash airtime purchases.
