BULAWAYO Kwaito group Izikhothane has released their debut album, a year after coming onto the city's music scene.
The group successfully launched their album, also titled Izikhothane, last week on Saturday in front of an appreciative crowd at Club Forty40.
In an interview manager of Maj Studios, Brian Kyle that houses the group, hailed the launch of the album as a success as it showed that the group had grown as artistes.
"The launch itself was a banger for the guys and I know that the album will live up to expectation because as their performance showed, they know what they are doing in their music and the album will be an illustration of that," he said.
Kyle also hailed the Kasi Princes, who was the backing artiste for the group during their launch, saying that her performance also showed her own growing stature in the music industry. Her performance followed hot on the heels of her 10-track album titled Amaleggings a fortnight ago.
"The funny thing is that she was the backing artiste but she still managed to steal the spotlight. The successful launch shows that both Izikhothane's album and Kasi Princes' own project will enjoy success because the crowd was very appreciative of their music," he said.
Besides Izikhothane, Maj Studios is set to release and promote projects by young and up-and-coming artistes during the course of the year as they plan to expose hidden talent within the city.
The studios, with branches spanning four countries - Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and now Zimbabwe - with the mother studios being in Botswana, can claim among its success the nurturing of Fraz and Donara of the Seqamabhilidi fame. The studio is also home to Kwaito group Amasyndicates and hip hop act, Lil Breezy.
