Bulawayo-based gospel music group Salem Mission Choir has released its first album titled Ngimfumene Umsindisi at a colourful ceremony held at the Amphitheatre in Bulawayo.
Artists from South Africa who included Indumiso Yamakrestu, Zinjaziyamluma as well as local imbube group Impumelelo Shining Stars graced the album launch.
The new album contains tracks such as Ngimfumene Umsindisi, Sinomhlobo, Khayelihle, Qina Mngane and Amen Jehovah.
The 18-member choir was formed with the intention of trying to bring Zimbabweans closer to God, says the group's leader Ms Ottiliah Dube.
Very few have recorded the Zion genre in Zimbabwe with the artists mostly concentrating on singing within their churches.
The album launch was also graced by Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe president Archbishop Johannes Ndanga.
Salem Mission Choir is based in Entumbane high density suburb and hails from the Jerusalem Bethsaida Church of Christ in Zion.
