Durban- MDC led by Professor Welshman Ncube is spreading its wings to as far as Stenga according to Provincial chairperson Leonard Dube.
Addressing Bulawayo24, Dube said he jovial welcomed 55 members who have defected from MDC led by PM Dr Morgan Tsvangirai recently.
"I am happy that Zimbabweans are now uniting under MDC family despite their tribal background. I welcomed 55 members who confirmed to not happy on daily operations of MDC-T. All those who joined us came as far as from Mashonaland West, Manicaland, Midlands, Masvingo, Matabeleland and Harare central. We building a strong team which will one day pioneer for a Diaspora vote as we have hordes of Zimbabweans across the globe," added Dube showing a list of names of defectors.
Tendai Makonese a defacto highlighted that they need action hence joining the briskly rising MDC. We are tired of MDC-T sympathising with malevolent Zanu pf while we languish in foreign lands.
In its first week in office it donated food, clothing and educational material to the needy vulnerable Zim citizens residing at Central Methodist church who are said to have been displaced by political violence which engulfed the country soon after disputed harmonised elections in 2008.
However, MDC-T SA publicist Kumbirai Muchemwa downplayed defections as fictional stories.
"It seems that the MDC-N has decided to create fictional stories in South Africa after they have found the going tough in Zimbabwe. The only surprising thing is that they have not brought in Weshman Ncube to witness and grace the defections occasion.
If there were to be a "defection" of 55 members to their party it would most certainly double their membership numbers here in SA. In short, no such defections took place. None will take place. Who would want to join a political party whose only selling point is the colour of their flag?" said Muchemwa.
