The Zanu PF United Kingdom branch is set to meet the Minister of African and Middle East Affairs in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office next Friday in an effort to lobby for the scrapping of the sanctions which have cost Zimbabwe an estimated US$40 billion.

The party's interim chairman in the UK, Ndabaningi Nick Mangwana and secretary-general Marshall Gore told the ZBC they are due to meet the British government representatives to seek the re-engagement of Zimbabwe and the British government.

They said they have been mobilising Zimbabweans in the UK to rally behind Zanu PF and President Mugabe to preserve the ideals of the liberation struggle.

"We have also been participating in radio and television programmes in support of the ruling party and Mugabe defending the ideals of Zimbabwe's revolution and the land reform, even at the pick of the Zimbabwe –Britain land dispute in 2002 when the country was slapped with the illegal sanctions," said Mangwana.

Interim secretary-general Marshal Gore revealed he has featured on Aljazeera TV, BBC World Service, ITV, Black Entertainment TV and others explaining Zimbabwe's revolution and Zanu PF's position.

The two said they have also mobilised like minded Pan-Africanist organisations in the diaspora to rally behind Zimbabwe and its land reform programme which has seen over 300 000 Zimbabwean families benefitting.

He said the Zanu PF wing in the UK is now working with black British parliamentarians who are vying for seats in next year's elections.

Harare and London's diplomatic row erupted in 2000 when Zimbabwe embarked on the land reform programme to correct colonial imbalances.
