A hungry 22 year old Mpopoma man in Bulawayo stole 20 empty beer crates from a supermarket in Mpopoma in a bid to raise money to buy food.
Kelvin Moyo broke into Sidumisile Supermarket at Bango Shopping Centre last Thursday in broad-day light.
The crates were valued at $176 and were all not recovered.
Appearing in court, Moyo told Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube that times are hard for him.
"My apologies Your Worship. Times are hard. I thought I would sell them and earn some money to buy food," said Moyo.
Dube handed him a two year jail term but suspended three months on condition of good behaviour.
The other three months were set aside on condition that he restitutes the shop owner.
