The Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC-T has reportedly  hit hard times amid reports that several full-time  workers have not  been paid for the past 15 months.

This is not the first time that issues of non-payment have cropped up.

According to a party insider based at Harvest House in Harare, only workers based at the party headquarters and a few selected individuals from the provinces were receiving their salaries timely.

"The only office that is well funded at the moment is that of President Tsvangirai. His officials are well taken care of. His health bill tops the priority list.

"In the midst of all this the majority of the workers are owed 15 months salaries and party leaders are mum about the issue. The workers are struggling to fend for their families. We have had a situation where others have been evicted from their lodgings over rental arrears," said the source.

MDC-T has also reportedly  failed to complete its data capturing exercise for its membership countrywide owing to inadequate resources.

"Last year, we were supposed to conduct a data capturing exercise of all our members in all the party's provinces.

"The exercise was supposed to have been completed by the end of last year but the target could not be met. An average of 21 percent of the targeted data forms were submitted," said the source.

MDC-T top officials could not be reached for comment on Monday morning.

Owing to the financial distress activities of party was now heavily subdued citing the case of Mashonaland West Province.

"Party members are made to fund themselves to and from party meetings and other party business.

"This has affected attendances in most provincial meetings which are usually held in Chinhoyi where people are expected to travel from as far as far as Kariba".

There are reports that a majority of the party's legislators were also struggling financially.

"Most of the party's legislators are also financially crippled. There is not much activities that they are doing in their respective constituencies. This can only spell doom for the party ahead of the 2018 general elections,".

Tsvangirai has been touring Matabeleland region recently.
