Bulawayo commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Steven Mutamba has clashed with Zanu-PF officials over the suspension of provincial chairperson Isaac Dakamela.

Party youths reportedly reposessed keys to a party vehicle from Dakamela on Monday but Mutamba intervened by sending senior officers to take the keys.

Now the Zanu-PF officials are accusing Mutamba of interfering in their internal party politics.

"We wonder what his interests on the matter are. Perhaps he has secret deals with Dakamela that is why he does not want him to go," said a party official.

"We are not happy with his conduct and we will certainly raise it with his bosses."

Mutamba however, said he did not interfere in the Dakamela debacle but, "responded to a report that Dakamela made to the police that some youths had taken away his car keys. We deployed our officers who amicably solved the matterm."

However, Dakamela failed to drive the car as the youths blocked him from removing the vehicle from the party's offices at Davies Hall.

Dakamela was suspended at a party provincial meeting on Sunday over allegations of defying the party which he denies.

The weekend meeting elevated Dakamela's deputy Killian Sibanda to the position of acting chairperson.
