Moves by Zanu-PF politburo memmber Sikhanyiso Ndlovu to rescue suspended party Bulawayo provincial chairman Isaac Dakamela hit a snag this week as fellow party members stuck to their guns.
Dakamela was suspended two weeks ago by a Provincial Coordinating Committee for allegedly defying the party.
Ndlovu reportedly called a meeting for Central Committee members asking to be briefed on why Dakamela was suspended as he did not attend the meeting.
However, on Monday Ndlovu went to the meeting with Dakamela drawing the ire of fellow senior party members.
"They asked him why he had brought Dakamela to the meeting as he had been suspended but Ndlovu said he wanted a full report and names of the conveners of the meeting that suspended Dakamela," said a Zanu-PF activist.
"But the central committe members attacked Ndlovu accusing him of behaving like a detective."
The party source said after fellow senior members refused to give in to Ndlovu's demands, the politburo member left the meeting in a huff.
"Ndlovu and Dakamela left the meeting and went away after failing to get their way. The other senior party members insisted that the decision to suspend Dakamela stood and they were not going back on their resolution."
Dakamela has since been replaced by Killian Sibanda who was appointed acting provincial chairperson.
