BULAWAYO - The United States and Britain continue snubbing the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), while 37 foreign exhibitors from 13 countries will participate in this year's exhibition which kicks off next week.
ZITF general manager Daniel Chigaru said Russia and India have also withdrawn from this year's edition. Brazil will be exhibiting at the annual trade exhibition for the first time.
"Brazilian companies will be exhibiting for the first time at this year's 53rd edition of the ZITF while two countries Russia and India have withdrawn," Chigaru told journalists at a press conference in Bulawayo.
Chigaru said 11 foreign countries that have confirmed their participation are Brazil, South Africa, China, Botswana, Iran, Poland, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Pakistan and Zambia.
Italy and Germany are the only countries from the European Union (EU) featuring at this year's ZITF.
Last year, not even a single country from the EU took part at the ZITF and hopes were high this year that more countries would take part after Zimbabwe's three main political parties entered into a coalition government in 2009.
This year's trade exhibition runs from April 24-28 under the theme "Investing Locally, Reaping Globally,"
Zambian President Michael Sata will officially open the trade showcase.
