An Econet employee has declared that the people of Matabeleland and Midlands are not interested in taking up employment, hence the employment of many Shona people in the company.
This came up at a marketing campaign that the company was conducting at Plumtree on Monday, 30th May 2012. The company's team of eight from Harare had only one member who spoke Ndebele. Asked why the show was conducted in Shona and Ndebele in a Kalanga and Ndebele speaking community, a team member declared that as long as the people understand Shona they are doing well.
This writer then inquired if the company could not find any Kalanga and Ndebele speaking people to do the shows in the region, a team member, whose name was not established, declared, "We advertised jobs for the marketing campaign but there were no people from Matabeleland and Midlands who were interested in the job." Asked when and where the advertisements where made, he stated that "they were done in sometime in April and the interviews conducted in Harare".
This writer was reliably informed by two team members, Priscila Butau and Rumbi Musarurwa that the team will be conducting more shows across the Matabeleland Provinces. They informed this writer that Econet customers can send and receive money by registering at an Econet Shop or Eco-cash Agent by dialing *151*200# after registration. They need to take a copy of their Identity Document for registration
