ZANU-PF will tomorrow hold its politburo meeting, amid indications that the COVID-19 pandemic will take centre stage during deliberations.

This comes at a time the COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of high-profile ruling party members and government officials including ministers Sibusiso Moyo (Foreign Affairs and International Trade), Joel Biggie Matiza (Transport and Infrastructural Development) and Ellen Gwaradzimba (Manicaland Provincial Affairs), as well as securocrats Retired BrigadierGeneral Collen Moyo and prisons boss Paradzayi Zimondi, who were all interred at the National Heroes Acre late last month.

In a statement yesterday on behalf of the Zanu-PF secretary for administration, Obert Mpofu, who is reportedly recovering from COVID-19, the ruling party spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo said the politburo would hold its meeting on Wednesday.

"The secretary for administration Cde Dr OM Mpofu wishes to advise members of the public that there shall be a politburo meeting to be held on Wednesday February 10, 2021 at the party headquarters commencing at 1000 hours. All members should be seated by 0945 hours sharp," Moyo said.

A source close to the meeting said the issue of COVID-19 would top the agenda at the meeting.

"The issue of COVID-19 will top the agenda, especially now that we are at a stage where we are about to roll out COVID-19 vaccines," the source said.
