A Bulawayo based Charity organisation 'Makokoba Healthcare Initiative' (MHCI) is appealing to well wishers to help a Grade 7 girl who lost both her legs after falling off a moving taxi.

On the 13th of June this year, 8-year-old Precious Ngwenya woke up like any other child and did her normal routine of preparing for school. On her way to school she boarded an emergency taxi (ET).

As the ET turned to the right towards Kumalo Primary School, along Gwanda Road, the door suddenly opened and Precious says she "tried to close the door but that is when she fell down and her leg got crashed and she immediately stood up without realising there was also another oncoming vehicle which crashed her other leg too."

Sphiwe Mhlanga from MCHI said on Friday: "when we heard of her plight for assistance to get prosthesis limbs we rushed to the hospital and we have requested for a quotation from the orthopaedic unit, so that we know how much is needed."

"As it is she is admitted at the UBH with two amputations on her legs, one above the knee and one below the knee," said Mhlanga.

"We are appealing to all well wishers to help a child get back on her feet and to continue leading a normal life."

"We would also like to thank the hospital for all the help and assistance they have given to precious and also to the good Samaritans who picked her up after the accident and ferried her to hospital and have continued to help her up to now," Mhlanga said.
