MDC fronted by Welshman Ncube on Thursday expelled Charles Mpofu from the party as he was accused of "bringing the name of the party into disrepute" and suspended a provincial youth member Ntando Ndlovu, Zimbabwe Focus reported.

Mpofu was served with his two paged letter signed by Bulawayo Province Disciplinary Committee Chairman, Paul Malaba on Thursday evening.

According to the letter, Mpofu's actions showed that he was unrepentant as he was once fired in 2004 before the split.

"This letter serves to advice your that you are hereby expelled from the party and participating in the activities of the Movement for Democratic change party with immediate effect," reads part of the letter dated October 31, 20013.

"The reason for your expulsion is the breach of Appendix 1,2f, that is, inciting people against the Party and brining the name of the party into disrepute," wrote Malaba.

"On 21 October you were heard on Studio 7 insulting the person of President  Welshman Ncube and Secretary General Priscilla M Mushonga saying that Ncube lost dismally and got 2 votes yet you got many because President is not popular and is surrounded by criminal and the secretary general is damaging the party by acting unilaterally.

"Attack on the person of the Party's spokesperson Nhlanhla Dube in the Chronicle as well saying he got his party position on the mercy of the leadership."

Ntando Ndlovu is accused of "bringing the name of the party into disrepute and using improper language against the leadership."

"During this period you are not allowed to do anything in the name of the Party or setting foot in the party premises unless when invited to attend disciplinary hearing," wrote Malaba.
