ZIMBABWE School of Mines has denied claims they posted a picture of a dead body on their Facebook page, as the institution has no such social platform account.
A Facebook page believed to be the official "Zimbabwe School of Mines" page on December 4 last year posted a photograph of a dead body.
This picture caused furore as the public said the act was against social norms.
In an interview with Radio Dialogue, Zimbabwe School of Mines Corporate Affairs Executive, Siphathisiwe Maisiri, said they had no knowledge of the ‘so-called' Facebook page as their organisation only has a website.
"We do not have a Facebook page. Even if you go to our website you will find there is no link or mention of a FaceBook account in our name," she said.
This issue came to light this year when Facebook users questioned how the school could publish such content on what they assumed to be the official Facebook page.
On January 7, the photograph was still there on the platform with the caption "rip ma guy ul lweiz be remembered….."
However, the photo has since been deleted.
During that course, online users also took the opportunity to ask from that same Facebook account, more detail on what the Zimbabwe School of Mines does and what requirements it wanted for one to enroll as a student.
One such question was: "What are the requirements for someone to qualify being a student for mining engineering."
