Rowdy Zanu-PF youths today pulled down MDC-T rally posters ahead of the MDC-T Real Change Peace Rally to be held at White City Stadium on Sunday.
Two trucks full of known Zanu-PF youth militia and led by their provincial chairperson Butho Gatsi tore posters in the city centre and surrounding areas.
The MDC-T Bulawayo province made a report of what was happening at Bulawayo Central Police Station leading to the arrest of some of the Zanu-PF youths. However, they were released in less that one hour after one Inspector Muzombi said there were no witnesses. Thousands of MDC-T supporters are expected to attend the rally that will be addressed by President Tsvangirai.
Meanwhile, hundreds of youths from the MDC-T Bulawayo province on Sunday commemorated the Day of the African Child at Iminyela Hall in Mpopoma. The Bulawayo provincial Youth Assembly chairperson, Bekithemba Nyathi, said the MDC-T youths agreed with the SADC's position in ensuring that the people of Zimbabwe hold free, fair and credible elections that will bring real change to Zimbabwe. Nyathi said youths need to fight for their basic rights such as education, access to health and housing.
Witness Dube, an MDC-T youth activist from Magwegwe, Bulawayo has been further remanded to 25 July 2011 for refusing to sign the Zanu-PF's Anti-Sanctions petition in March 2011. He is on a US$50 bail.
