Zanu PF factional fights wont benefit Matabeleland

Zanu PF politburo member Obert Mpofu today said Matabeleland was not interested in the party's factional fights as the region did not stand to benefit from the jostling for the presidency.
Speaking at a Zanu PF Matabeleland North induction workshop in Bulawayo, Mpofu said the best the region could get was a vice presidency position.
"We are tired of factionalism. We from this region, we do not see how factionalism benefits us and we are not aiming for the presidency," said Mpofu.
"We are hoping that maybe (Simon Khaya) Moyo will get the Vice Presidency post. We sat down with Moyo and said let us look for what we can get.
"We do not worry about things that are beyond us and why should we be bothered."
Mpofu said he initially raised these sentiments in the explosive politburo meeting where members of a faction led by Vice President Joyce Mujuru were calling for the sacking of Professor Jonathan Moyo.
He said they knew the party's hierarchy.
"The party has a procedure, if you come with a helicopter and want to land on our heads, we will fight you," Mpofu said.
