I am too 'big' to be pushed out by juniors, says under fire Ndlovu

BULAWAYON - ZANU-PF politburo member Sikhanyiso Ndlovu yesterday dismissed threats to expel him as misguided, saying he, like President Robert Mugabe, cannot just be pushed out by juniors.

Ndlovu courted the ire of war veteran, George Mlala, who claims to be the incoming Zanu-PF Bulawayo chairperson, after he described the latter's power grab as unprocedural and cantankerous.

"These threats are misguided," he said. "How can a junior threaten the head of the province?

"It is just like any junior party member threatening the Head of the State, it doesn't work."

Ndlovu said he is the political head of Bulawayo and Mlala and others' are his subordinates, who should take his orders.

"I am the political head of Bulawayo and it is my responsibility to put things in order," he said.

"You do not threaten a person that was appointed by the president."

Ndlovu, a former Information minister, was recently appointed to head Bulawayo's congress preparations.

He described himself as a self-made revolutionary who was not in the party by appointment.

"I am not in the party by appointment or recruitment," Ndlovu said.

"I am a self-made revolutionary since 1950 and being in the party is part of my blood and sweat."

The politburo member insisted that Callistus Ndlovu remains in office because the correct party procedures were not followed in passing a vote of no confidence against him. "He (Mlala and others) do not know the party constitution that is why they are failing to follow the correct procedures for passing a vote of no confidence."

Mlala insists a vote of no confidence against chairperson, Callistus, and members of his executive stands, but Ndlovu argues otherwise.

Mlala on Wednesday warned Ndlovu against condemning their power grab, adding that he would find himself getting booted out like Rugare Gumbo, who was suspended for five years.

On Wednesday, Mlala said they would "dribble" Ndlovu out of Zanu-PF if he pokes his nose into their affairs.
