Byo has highest number of trained teacher but low pass rate - ZimStat

BULAWAYO has one of the highest number of trained teachers but the province routinely records lowest pass rates in national public examinations, ZimStat has said.
Last year, the city had only one school ranked among the top 100 best schools in Ordinary Level.
According to statistics by ZimStat, Bulawayo has 1 882 trained teachers for only 50 secondary schools with an enrollment of 51 467 pupils.
Harare has 3 690 teachers for 89 secondary schools and 90 626 pupils.
Based on the ZimStat Education Report, Mashonaland central has 1 774 trained teachers for 71 967 pupils in 203 schools and Matabeleland North has the least teachers with 1 267 for 47 940 pupils in 152 schools.
Manicaland has 5 5 832 teachers, Mashonaland Central (1 174), Mashonaland East (3 211), Mashonaland West (2 799), Matabeleland South (1 4 33), Masvingo (4 2 73) and Midlands has 3 776 teachers.
