OVER 6 000 delegates are expected to attend the 12th Zanu-PF National People's Conference to be held from December 6 to 10 in Bulawayo.
About 5 000 people attended last year's conference held in Mutare, Manicaland province.
Zanu-PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo yesterday said preparations for the event begin tomorrow with a meeting of the conference co-ordinating committee.
"We are meeting as the conference co-ordinating committee on Thursday to discuss issues to do with the conference.
"We will then release a statement after the meeting," Gumbo said.
It is at this meeting, he said, that a detailed programme for the conference would be formu- lated.
"We are expecting over 6 000 delegates to attend the Bulawayo conference."
Secretaries general of former liberation movements of the Sadc region will meet on the sidelines of the conference.
At its Mutare conference, Zanu-PF made a number of resolutions, chief among them that the harmonised elections be held this year.
Zanu-PF also endorsed President Mugabe as its candidate in the elections. Failure by Copac to draft a new people-driven constitution on time has, however, delayed the holding of elections.
President Mugabe has expressed concern over the pace at which Copac was drafting the constitution, saying there was no reason for the delay.
