In response to some newspaper reports regarding Zapu reneging on their promise to give students education bursaries, we caught up with Mlamuli Nkomo, Zapu SA's Youth Front National Executive Committee Representative and he had this to say.
"Since the GNU comprising of MDC-T, MDC and Zanu Pf has failed to provide quality education to youths especially those from Matabeleland, we as Zapu are willing to assist youths to further their education but that is on condition that we have the resources.
To allege that youths join our movement because of promises for personal gain is being mischievous. A number of prominent Zimbabweans today were educated by Zapu during the struggle. If resources are available Zapu will always invest in young people to equip them with skills so that they can contribute to the country`s economy. Youths join Zapu because they want to work for a better Zimbabwe and not for   personal benefits.
Joining the Zapu Youth Front is a sacrifice with no promise for material gain. Zanu Pf and MDC-T have introduced a bad culture where youths are hired to beat up opponents by being lured by the promise of money and jobs.
It is a well known fact that Harvest House is the terror capital for Morgan Tsvangirai perceived opponents because of the violent youths stationed there. This is the same way Mugabe has used the green bombers to attack opponents.
We also caught up with Bhekisipho Ncube a political analyst based in South Africa and he said that it's not a surprise that allegations about Zapu are coming from a well know MDT-T mouth piece and anyone with five sense will take the story with a pinch of salt. "The newspaper article about Zapu is meant to mislead people because we have some voting this year. These people want to portray Zapu as a party that cannot keep its promises which is not true. They want to further their MDC-T propaganda at the expense of other democratic forces." Ncube added.
