Zanu-PF will bring HIV and AIDS to Bulawayo

Zanu-PF will only bring HIV and AIDS to Bulawayo during its December Conference scheduled starting from December 6-10 this year, a senior Bulawayo politician has said.
The politician who requested not to be named said contrary to reports carried in a Sunday News editorial ( 9-15 October 2011 issue) that the holding of the Zanu-PF special conference will bring in opportunities, the conference will in fact bring in "HIV and AIDS and CIOs only."
Reads the Sunday News editorial in part:
"Bulawayo hosts what has been dubbed a special Zanu-PF People's conference from 6-10 December and we think it is fitting that the City of Kings was chosen for this occasion given its significance in the political matrix of the country.
"…..The venue of this momentous meeting – which is for the first time will endorse the party's presidential candidate for next year's polls – dovetails perfectly with the theme of the vanguard party's campaign – the total indigenization of the economy through the Indigenization and Economic Empowerment Drive.
"….therein lies an opportunity for emerging black entrepreneurs to jump up on the bandwagon and seize the moment," reads the editorial in part.
However the politician said there was "absolutely nothing" to gain from the Zanu-PF conference for the people of Bulawayo save for "an expected rise in HIV and AIDS infections" and an influx of the dreaded members of the Central Intelligence Organisation.
"What development or opportunities were opened in Victoria Fall, Esigodini and Mutare for example, nothing but the Zanu-PF fellows left a lot of bustards and our sisters infected here," said the politician.
He added," Besides how can a broke party bring opportunities when it is struggling to raise funds for the same speech making event," he said.
The Sunday Times of South Africa (Zimbabwean edition) recently reported that Zanu-PF is "broke and struggling" to raise enough funds for its conference.
