IMPOSED candidates standing on Zanu-PF ticket in the forthcoming elections will not be tolerated, a senior party official has said.
Addressing a meeting in Plumtree recently where he donated more than a tonne of maize, Zanu-PF national chairman Simon Khaya Moyo said the former ruling party will not tolerate any imposition of candidates during the forthcoming elections as that is against party protocol and disregards party structures.
He said:
"We don't want people to choose leaders without a proper developmental vision. We have resolved that are we not going to impose candidates, we are not going to force leaders on people as it has a danger that those leaders will not listen to the people but will dictate their wishes to the electorate.
"Proper political channels will therefore be followed and the culture of those that just come from no-where should not be tolerated. We want people with a traceable and proven political history," he said.
Zanu-PF learnt it hard in 2005 when it tried to block Professor Jonathan Moyo in Tsholotsho North in favour of Cain Mathema's (then wife) - Musa Ncube.
Prof Moyo opted to stand as an independent and won the seat which he still hold to date.
