THE Movement for Democratic Change formation led by Professor Welshman Ncube has said it will soon start campaigning for the relocation of Parliament from Harare to Bulawayo.
In an interview, Prof Ncube said:
"Basically as a party, we are going to start the campaign to bring Parliament to Bulawayo. We have written the proposal to Government.
"Bulawayo is perceived as marginalized. By bringing Parliament here, this changes the perception.
"It is important for Government, the business community and political parties to realize the importance of relocating Parliament," he said.
Prof Ncube said the idea of moving Parliament TO Bulawayo was part of efforts to devolve power from Harare to other cities in the country.
In August, Prof Ncube said the proposed Bill to relocate Parliament had been completed and submitted to the Ministry of Constitutional and Parliamentary Affairs for approval after which it would be debated in Parliament.
The launch of the campaign is going to be done in Bulawayo on a day yet to be set.
