Thousands of Zimbabweans died of poverty under selfish regime

A political activists Ngqabutho Nicholas Mabhena has claimed that even though people are excited by their chance to get into the new year 2017, it is sad that thousands of people might have died due to poverty caused by the Zanu PF regime during their life time.
"We are all excited about the prospects of witnessing yet another year in our lifetime. Indeed, it is quite an achievement for us to have gone this far considering that, millions of the working people died in the hands of greedy capitalist in the workplace , some died in the imperialist wars sponsored by the United States of America and her friends particularly in the Middle East and elsewhere," Mabhena said.
"In Zimbabwe, thousands of working people and the poor died in 2016 due to lack of proper medical care in our hospitals and clinics. More are in their deathbeds due to lack of medical care thanks to the mis ruling Zanu (PF)."
"As we celebrate what the prophetic leaders now call ,"the cross over night" , we will wake up in the morning of 01 January 2017 still swimming in poverty. In a few days, we will be struggling to pay school fees for our kids, school uniforms, rent and other bills. It is then that we will realise that, what has changed is the calendar hanging on our walls," he added.
Mabhena said while people remain a deep religious society, they have elected to hear what the Man of God will prophecy about individual situations as they enter 2017.
"Some of us want to hear what the Man of God will say about my financial prospect in 2017 ( will l buy a new car, a house, will my business grow) , my marriage (will l finally marry, will my wife or husband stick with me, will l be blessed with more beautiful children) . Tonight churches and stadiums will be overflowing with the working class seeking to be 'blessed' or toughed by a prophetic hand of the Man of God," he said.
"The reality though is that, the power is in us to transform our lives. While l respect the right of individuals to pray for miracles in their lives, in Zimbabwe we do not need a miracle. We need only courange in confronting the Zanu (PF) regime. Unless we unite and say NO to Zanu (PF), we will find ourselves in a similar situation on 31 December 2017 (if we make it) , flocking to stadiums and halls hoping for a prophetic message that would change our material conditions."
"How do we then confront Zanu (PF) ? Firstly, we must ensure that the coalition of the opposition does happen in 2017. It is only a united opposition that will defeat Zanu (PF) in 2018 through a democratic election. Secondly, we need to all participate in civil disobedience (in the streets) under the leadership of revolutionaries not strugglepruners," he added.
He said people must resist the commercialization of the struggle.
"While we need resources to finance the struggle, we are the very people who should contribute our hard earned dollar than always looking for funding from the donor community. In 2016 we had hoped that the #social movements were to lead a revolution, unfortunately, the leadership found itself fighting over donor money," he said.
"As we go to stadiums, churches and beer halls to say goodbye to 2016 and welcoming 2017, let us remember these words from a great revolutionary ," I am not a liberator. The liberators do not exist. The people shall liberate themselves " he quoted Che Guevara.
