MOVEMENT for Democratic Change rebel legislators who recently declared their allegiance to Professor Arthur Oliver Guseni Mutambara risk losing their posts as the High Court of Bulawayo has barred the latter from acting up as MDC president.
The law-makers, Thandeko Zinti Mkandla and Nomalanga Mzilikazi Khumalo made headlines recently castigating Professor Welshman Ncube and declaring that they recognise Prof Mutambara as their leader.
Ms Mzilikazi Khumalo is also the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly and might lose her position if Prof Ncube decides so, which is very likely considering the bad blood between the two.
Said the learned judge: "The Applicant is entitled to the final order," he said.
Effectively the judgement means that Prof Mutambara must stop acting up as president of the MDC and principal in the inclusive government.
He must also pay the cost of the suit of a high scale.
In the case MDC secretary general Ms Priscilla Musihayirambwi-Mushonga representing is the applicant whereas Prof Mutambara is the Respondent respectively.
MDC Bulawayo province information and publicity secretary Edwin Ndlovu ecstatically said outside the High Court of Bulawayo today: "Truth has prevailed over shameful lies and claims. Those that have taken sides with dark forces led by Prof Mutambara will now have to look for a political party to belong to since they said they are not part of us.
"We are sure that even President Robert Mugabe, who has for too long said he is waiting for the court process to swear in our leader as the DPM will now act likewise," said Ndlovu.
The power wrangle between Prof Ncube and his east while friend Prof Mutambara started in January this year at the MDC congress in Harare. Prof Mutambara led a group of 13 rebels who argued that there was a breach of processes that led t the subsequent election of Prof Ncube as the party president.
They thus contested the legitimacy of the party structure that emerged from congress deliberations and elections.
