Zanu-PF distances itself from Mujuru party implosion

The ruling Zanu PF party says insinuations that it is behind the chaos reigning in Joice Mujuru's ZimPF party are misguided and can only be uttered by people who are directionless.
Zanu PF Secretary for Administration, Dr Ignatius Chombo distanced his party from the ZimPF implosion which saw Mujuru expelling some the party's founding members, among them Didymus Mutasa, Rugare Gumbo, Margaret Dongo, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti and Munacho Mutezo.
The group countered by expelling Mujuru, before some party youths, led by Prosper Gavanga and Luckson Kandemiri abandoned the ship today, citing incompetence on the part of the former Vice President.
While Mujuru claims that Zanu PF had infiltrated her party, Dr Chombo has other thoughts, saying the members were expelled from Zanu PF because they were misguided.
Dr Chombo added that the events unfolding in ZimPF vindicate President Robert Mugabe, who once predicted a split in the party, which he said was founded of chaos.
Political analysts also weighed in, likening recent events in the party as the biggest stillbirth in post independent Zimbabwe and an embarrassment to opposition politics.
"This disintegration just two years after the party's formation is indeed the biggest stillbirth in the history of the country and an embarrassment. Mujuru's actions are a desperate attempt to join the MDC-T without being held back by her former allies like Gumbo and Mutasa whose political ideology is still biased to their former party, Zanu PF," said Mr Zachariah Mushawetu.
"It was clear from the onset that Mujuru lacked the capacity to lead a political party. She must be aware that she does not have the political muscle and the capacity to build sustainable political structures, hence the rush to discard her allies so that she can enter into a coalition with already established parties," another political analyst and SABA News Regional Editor, Mr Chris Msipa said.
Meanwhile the circus in ZimPF continued this Thursday with the founding elders holding a meeting at the party offices in Highlands, while Mujuru was in her own meeting at their Ryelands farm.
At the meeting in Highlands, Gumbo and Mutasa announced that they are now in charge of ZimPF.
Mr Mutasa said he now understands why Mujuru was expelled from Zanu PF.
Sources close to the Mujuru meeting said the meeting sought to endorse the expulsion of the seven senior members of the party.
Mujuru's spokesperson, Jealous Mawarire could not be reached for comment.
