Zanu-PF restructuring resumes

The Zanu-PF Matabeleland North programme on the restructuring of cells has resumed although it is now behind schedule due to the incessant rains that made it impossible for party members to undertake the activities.

The restructuring programme in all the seven districts in Matabeleland North province began two weeks ago after a long break which was caused by the incessant rains and flooding in some districts.

The provincial executive had initially targeted to have 5000 cells in place by the end of this month but due to the delays, a total of 547 cells are now in place and the restructuring is still ongoing, according to the Zanu-PF Matabeleland North Provincial Chairperson, Richard Moyo.

"Everyone in the party now understands the restructuring of cells because it affects us all up to the Politburo. Our only worry now is Hwange district, which has the lowest number of cells, so we had a provincial executive meeting and we urged them to work hard so that together as a province, we meet our target," he said.

The target is to ensure that the restructuring process is completed before the party conducts primary elections.

Umguza district has restructured 174 cells, the highest number in the province, followed by Binga with 112, Bubi 86 and Tsholotsho 82, Lupane 28 and Hwange 20.
