CHIREDZI - A Councillor allegedly caused alarm, shock and despondency after spreading falsehoods about death of his party member on social media.

The Chiwawa family friends and relatives are yet to come to terms to shrug off the bad moments they went through last Saturday after enduring the chily and rainy weather through out the night on a funeral vigil of a surviving relative who was said to have passed on.

Chiredzi town Council Chairman is said to have posted the sad and shocking news on a Zanu PF Whaatsapp group claiming that Martha Chiwawa who is hospitalised at Chiredzi general hospital had passed on at around 7 pm on Saturday.

Since it was already late for burial paper work, friends and relatives did not bother to check with the hospital and believed the matter to be true especially after it was delivered by a respected man. An all night funeral vigil was made with friends and relatives converging at Chiwawa family home in Prayer road.

Truth came out the following morning when like Jesus' disciples, the family went to prepare for the burial of the 'deceased' only to find her live and kicking on her hospital bed. Her hospital care giver was shocked when she saw people bringing in linen, water and some stuffs that were mearnt to clean and wrap the 'deceased' ready for the grave.

"Kwaniko mukwasha.Vanhu vakangomhanya kuungana parufu vanzwa nhema pagroup na Councillor. Kutadzawo kubvunza mainini vaiva nemurwere kuchipatara vanhu ndokutorara vachiimba izvo munhu mupenyu. (That is what happened but people rushed to organise for the funeral after seeing a post on group by a Councillor. They should have confirmed with a sister in law who was taking care of the patient") said a relative to the misfortuned patient.

During these election campaigns politicians are taking advantage of every gathering made to donate and pass their propaganda.
