The Zanu-PF politburo member and Secretary for Youth Affairs Kudzai Chipanga says President Robert Mugabe is the party's presidential candidate for 2018 and party members should respect the one centre of power principle.
Thousands of youths from the eight political districts in Manicaland gathered in Mutare for the Zanu PF Manicaland inter-district conference which was held as part of the preparations for President Mugabe's Meet the Youths Rally scheduled to be held on the 16th of next month in the province.
The national youth league executive members, accompanied by the provincial leadership, first toured Sakubva stadium, the proposed venue for the rally.
Addressing thousands of youths who converged in Mutare, Chipanga reiterated that President Mugabe is Zanu-PF's presidential candidate for 2018.
Speaking at the same occasion, the Zanu-PF provincial chairman for the youth league in Manicaland Mbuso Chinguno said the only birthday present that befits President Mugabe next year will be one million votes.
Zanu PF central committee member and Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Mandi Chimene urged the youths to take up the empowerment opportunities being ushered in by the Zanu-PF government to transform their lives.
President Mugabe is expected to visit all the provinces meeting the youths in order to have a better appreciation of the challenges faced by young people.
