KWEKWE Central legislator Masango Matambanadzo is reportedly seeking the help of the police to block a fellow Zanu-PF member from carrying out philanthropic activities in his constituency without his approval.

Matambanadzo, popularly known as Blackman, wants the police to bar Kandros Mugabe Chikungwe from donating grain and money to the poor in Kwekwe Central constituency out of fear that he could be laying ground to wrestle the seat from him.

In a letter, Matambanadzo asked Kwekwe police to stop Chikungwe from conducting what he described as illegal meetings where food and money were being dished out to mainly Zanu-PF supporters.

"Kandros Mugabe has done more than seven meetings in Kwekwe Central constituency and all these meetings are booked with your offices. Dispol (Officer Commanding Kwekwe District Police), we are surprised by your offices that allow these meetings to take place. If your office allows him again, I will be left with no option except to take the matter up (sic)," the letter read.

Matambanadzo said Chikungwe should be stopped from campaigning until the party opens campaign season.

"He should stop campaigning because it's not yet campaign time, he is undermining my work as Member of Parliament for this constituency by his actions," he said.

Matambanadzo is currently on suspension from Zanu-PF for five years on allegations of setting up parallel party structures.

Chikungwe, who is also a bishop at his church Zvipo Zvemweya, was, however, adamant that he would continue reaching out to the poor on behalf of his family and President Robert Mugabe.

"He (Matambanadzo) thinks I am campaigning to unseat him which is unfortunate. I am here to spread the Word of God, help the poor and work to further the vision of our President Robert Mugabe," Chikungwe said.

"I am a product of his vision and empowerment and, therefore, paying back to the community ensures that he wins the elections in 2018 as he is our candidate."

Police have not acted on Matambanadzo's letter and Chikungwe plans more meetings in the constituency.
