The 309th Ordinary Session of the Zanu-PF politburo is underway at the party headquarters in Harare this Wednesday.
The politburo meeting begins with some remarks by the President and First Secretary of Zanu-PF Robert Mugabe followed by reports from the different chosen departments of the party.
The Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Joseph Made is expected to report on the state of agriculture on the back of the successful inaugural command agriculture maize programme and the distribution of inputs under the Presidential Inputs Scheme to assist communal and rural households.
Secretary for Youth Affairs Kudzi Chipanga is expected to report on the Presidential Youth Interface Programme where Mugabe is touring various provinces. He has visited Mashonaland East and will be in Manicaland this Friday.
Sithembiso Nyoni, who is the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperative Development, will brief the politburo on the upcoming Harare Agricultural Show.
Zanu-PF Secretary for External Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs Simbarashe Mumbengegwi will give feedback on the African Union cattle donation where some herd of cattle from President Mugabe has been auctioned to fundraise for the continental body.
This is being done in the spirit of weaning the AU from too much donor dependency.
National Political Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere is expected to give the commissariat report, while many expect his fate to be discussed following the demonstrations calling for his removal from heading the commissariat department of the ruling party.
The chairperson of the Presidential Probe Team appointed to look into allegations levelled against Kasukuwere in Mashonaland central, Jacob Mudenda, is expected to present his findings to the President.
