ZANU-PF yesterday forced the closure of businesses in the sprawling high-density suburb of Sakubva, where President Robert Mugabe is set to address ruling party supporters today.
The popular bus terminus, flea market and other businesses were closed much to the dismay of vendors and travellers.
As if this was not enough, the party forced students from various colleges and universities in the city to march from the city centre to Sakubva Stadium, the venue of today's event.
The hungry youths showcased their dancing skills in the mini carnival.
Zanu-PF national youth secretary for environment and tourism, Lovemore Chibvura, addressed the youths at Sakubva Stadium, where he thanked them for participating in the march and in a clean-up exercise.
Later in the day, Zanu-PF bigwigs toured the venue, where they were briefed about the preparations.
The delegation comprised youth leader Kudzanayi Chipanga, Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Mandiitawepi Chimene, Information minister Christopher Mushohwe and Environment minister Oppah Muchinguri, among others.
Chimene and Mushohwe said they were expecting a bumper crowd at today's event.
