Former Zanu-PF Mash West provincial chairman John Mafa has bounced back after comprehensively beating 3 other aspirants in elections held over the weekend.

He garnered 1 255 votes to beat Walter Chidhakwa who got 711 votes, Rueben Marumahoko who had 513 votes and Moffat Marashwa who got 52 votes.

Marumahoko was the party's acting provincial chairman. Announcing the results at a Press briefing yesterday, Zanu-PF national political commissar Webster Shamu said the incident-free election provided a template for the establishment of a democratic order in the party.

Mafa is said to belong to the Defence minister Emmerson Mnangagwa faction.
