Fresh bid to oust Undenge

ZANU-PF Manicaland provincial chairperson, Samuel Undenge's political life continues to hang by the thread, with some party members pushing for his ouster despite a recent reprieve by President Robert Mugabe.
Party youths on Saturday caused a stir at an inter-district conference meeting when they demanded fresh elections for the provincial chairperson, claiming Undenge was imposed on the province.
Zanu-PF Headlands youth ward six chairperson, Innocent Magutakuwana, shocked the delegates, including guest of honour, Small and Medium Enterprise minister Sithembiso Nyoni, after he stood up and demanded that a new chairperson be elected to replace Undenge.
"All provinces held elections to choose their provincial chairpersons, even in Masvingo they had elections, why do you want to impose him on us. We also need elections?'' he said.
Provincial youth leader, Mubuso Chinguno, immediately interjected and threatened to suspend Magutakuwana for indiscipline, saying the politburo's decision to set aside Undenge's suspension was final.
"I know they were sent by Deputy Local Government minister Christopher Chingosho to disturb the meeting. They have their fights in Headlands,'' Chinguno said.
"Our President is preaching discipline and we don't want youths without discipline. The politburo gave a decision over the issue of the chairman. Who are we to change the decision? The politburo is chaired by President Robert Mugabe and we follow what he says, today (Saturday) we are going to write a suspension letter against that Headlands chairman ward six Magutakuwana over what he did."
Repeated efforts to contact Chingosho for comment yesterday over the accusations levelled against him were futile.
