Bulawayo City Council has declined to offer the Ingubo Primary School as a venue for feeding of the delegates to the Zanu PF youth Interface rally on Saturday on the grounds that the use of schools for political reasons is in contravening of the ministerial laws.
The matter was brought to the council for discussion in which councillors objected to the application by the ruling party.
The reasons for declining was that the use of the school for the proposed activities was in contravention of a Ministerial directive which prohibited the use of schools for non-educational functions.
"For this reason it would be inappropriate to allow use of Ingubo School for the purposes envisaged. It was further noted that the furniture at the schools was designed for children and could easily be damaged if used by adults. Councillor Collet Ndhlovu however felt that the request could be granted in view of the time factor," reads the latest council minutes.
It was resolved that that the recommendation of the General Purposes Committee be not acceded to and the request to use Ingubo Primary School as feeding venue for the rally delegates be declined.
