Politicians aspiring to represent Zanu-PF in the 2018 harmonised elections should wait for guidelines before launching campaigns in wards or constituencies.

Party spokesperson Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo said it was unprocedural for aspiring councillors and MPs to campaign without guidelines.

"The only confirmed candidate is President Mugabe; he is our Presidential candidate.

''Besides him, no one else should campaign at the moment. I urge party members to follow procedures," he said.

Ambassador Khaya Moyo added that sitting MPs were mandated to lead voter education and registration campaigns.

"The party is ceased with voter registration and let no man disturb this critical process.

''I am warning party members using money to buy favours, to secure constituencies, to stop it.

"The Zanu-PF Extraordinary Congress in December will direct our energy. We are busy with congress preparations and after that members will be advised of how to campaign."

President Mugabe recently appointed a five-member Elections Directorate comprising National Secretary for Administration Ignatius Chombo, Women's League First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe, National Political Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere, Secretary for Legal Affairs Patrick Chinamasa, and Secretary for Youth Affairs Kudzanai Chipanga.

The directorate will co-ordinate, monitor and supervise primary elections; and oversee campaigning and resource mobilisation.
