A Harare Zanu-PF legislator Terence Mukupe who was also one of the targets of the G40 accused of factionalism and supporting former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has pleaded with fellow citizens to continue to respect President Robert Mugabe despite his failure to handle the succession issues.

Mugabe has been accused by the Lacoste for working with the G40 towards aligniong his wife Grace to succeed him through firing all those who have potential to succeed him such as Mnangagwa and Joice Mujuru among others.

"After all is said and done. His Excellency President Robert Gabriel Mugabe deserves our respect. Yes it's time to move on but let's not denigrate and disrespect him. His legacy and what he did for this nation cannot be overshadowed by whatever mistakes he made in handling the succession question. I sincerely wish him a long and healthy life," Mukupe said.

"A new dawn awakens for the people of Zimbabwe."
