Opposition need to shift gear and find ways of contesting for power

Political commentator Pedzisayi Ruhanya has warned the opposition to shift gear and find ways of contesting for power.
The remarks come at a time when MDC Alliance members visited the United States in what is believed they had gone to advise the western powers to maintain sanctions in Zimbabwe.
Ruhanya said the opposition MDC Alliance at the US congressional Committee failed dismally to frame the contemporary Zimbabwe question following the fall of Zimbabwe's most hated, arrogant and useless traditional leader; Robert Mugabe and his hereditary family dynasty.
"They had substantive issues but frame, articulation, context and moment was missed by a huge margin. Reference to SANCTIONS was disastrous. The opposition need to shift gear and find ways of contesting for power without celebrating measures that alienate them from ordinary people and that inadvertently give oxygen to an undemocratic system," he said.
"You don't get power because people are suffering. You can win because you provide hope for happiness and prosperity."
