Sanctions were because of chaotic land reform - MDC-T official

An MDC-T official Chalton Hwende has dispelled the notion that the sanctions against Zimbabwe were imposed because of MDC-T's calls but indicated that they were imposed because of the chaotic land reform which resulted to the displacement of thousands of white farmers and their employees while some were killed.
"The main reason Sanctions were imposed was because of the Land Reform Not MDC this is a bilateral issue between UK and Zimbabwe and has nothing to do with the MDC," he said.
"I believe the human rights violations were a secondary reason. Let's not score cheap points against the opposition. Now that ED is returning land to white people and compensating them you will see that Sanctions will be Removed."
Zanu PF has since shifted the blame of sanctions on the MDC Alliance saying the officials went to the United States to call for the extension of the targeted measures against Zimbabwe.
