Zanu-PF has been invited to attend the 50th anniversary of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party to be held in Gaborone today. Zanu-PF national chairman Simon Khaya Moyo is leading the revolutionary party's delegation to the festivities.
In a statement yesterday, the Zanu-PF external relations department said the invitation was predicated on the sound relations between the two political parties.
"This invitation is concrete testimony of the cordial and fraternal relations existing between the two political parties dating back to the days of Zimbabwe's liberation struggle.
"Zanu-PF national chairman (Simon Khaya Moyo) will underscore the importance of these relations and apprise the BDP of the latest political situation in Zimbabwe," read the statement.
Zimbabwe and Botswana's relations date back to the time of the liberation struggle.
The two countries have signed several bilateral co-operation agreements since independence in 1980.
