Zanu PF explains 'Operation Restore Legacy'

Zanu PF has begun holding a series of rallies in Matabeleland North province, which will be used as a platform to set the record straight on what led to the Operation Restore Legacy.
The initiative follows some misinformation by unruly elements bent on destroying image of the party.
The first rally in the province was officiated by the Zanu PF Secretary for Administration, Dr Obert Mpofu at Nyamandlovu in Umguza constituency this afternoon.
Operation Restore Legacy, which brought about a change of government, has generally been welcomed by the majority of Zimbabweans.
However some unruly elements have begun misinforming party members about the operation, in a bid to persuade them to other parties.
Dr Mpofu narrated the events that led to the operation, warning party members not to be carried away and avoid involving themselves in issues they know nothing about.
"So when [Robert] Mugabe resigned, the party decided that we should bring back Cde [Emmerson] Mnangagwa. It was us as a congress and central committee. We agreed to have an extra ordinary congress which had been called by the G40 cabal to eliminate Cde Mnangagwa so that they could put that woman [Grace Mugabe] as a vice president. But the mistake they made is that whenever they saw the media, they would start insulting soldiers. You don't insult soldiers," said Dr Mpofu.
Zanu PF Matabeleland North Provincial Chairman, Richard Moyo said the province will vote for President Mnangagwa in the forthcoming harmonised elections and urged party members who failed to register during the bio-metric voter registration (BVR) programme to take advantage of the mop up exercise so that the objective of the province can be fulfilled.
The rally, which was attended by Zanu PF Central Committee members, war veterans, legislators and the provincial executive, also incorporated a presentation to update party members on the projects that have been undertaken in the constituency.
