Zanu-PF Politburo members met in Harare this Wednesday for an ordinary session to discuss various issues, chief among them the constitution making process.
Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Rugare Gumbo said the Politburo expressed concern at the slow pace of the constitution making process and recommended that the three principals in the Global Political Agreement work towards solving the problem.
"The key thing is that the process is very slow, and the President was very concerned about the slow pace of the constitution making process. We are told last week they worked for only one and a half hours and this week they will do the same because of the delaying tactics. We are saying if such is the case, then the principals have to deal with the issue," said Gumbo.
Copac co-Chairperson, Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana gave an update of the constitution making process to the Politburo.
"We have just completed eleven out of the eighteen chapters. In fact, we are left with only six chapters, and I am happy to say that the remaining chapters are quite short. We did express our displeasure to the conduct of the drafters to the extent that they departed from our instructions and included sensitive material and they were very naughty in which they tried to temper around with the Presidential clause," Mangwana said.
The meeting comes amid calls for the termination of the inclusive government and holding of elections.
During the meeting, the Politburo revisited the Zanu-PF National People's Conference held in Bulawayo in December as well as the 21st February Movement celebrations held in Mutare last week.
Speaking at the birthday celebrations in Mutare, the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe blasted the West for imposing illegal sanctions.

Addressing Politburo members at the Zanu-PF headquarters, the President said the high turn-out which included children from various social back-grounds demonstrated that Zimbabweans are united.
In appreciation of the celebrations, President Mugabe shared the cake depicting his totem, the crocodile (see picture), with Politburo members.
Vice President Joice Mujuru led Politburo members in singing 'happy birthday' to the President, who turned 88 on February 21.
