MDC has expelled Mutambara whom they have accused of supporting ZANU-PF. MDC has also proposed an amendment to the GPA to state that the 2 DPM's shall be from MDC-T and ZANU PF.
In a facebook statement where the current MDC president who was yesterday expelled by Mutambara, Welshman Ncube quoted Articles of the MDC constitution.
On his facebook profile, Welshman Ncube wrote "The National Council met today and on the basis of 1) Article 4.10 of the constitution which states that a member shall be automatically terminated if they support another party and given Mutambara's actions over the recent past it is clear he now supports ZANU PF.
2) Article 4.11 of the constitution states that a member maybe expelled if there is a 2/3 majority of the National Council to such effect. Today 105 of a 121 members voted in favour of expelling Mutambara from the party given recent events. There were no dissentions against the motion and there were apologies from the members that were not present."
Ncube added in his facebook profile, "We have noted the refusal to accept our representatives and have ourselves accepted it, we will focus on rebuilding our party and winning the next elections rather than fight for positions."
"Secondly given Mugabe's refusal to swear in our representatives into government and Mutambara's now being a ZANU PF supporter we have proposed an amendment to the GPA to state that the 2 DPM's shall be from MDC-T and ZANU PF.
We shall not recognise Mutambara as the DPM unless such an amendment is made. We have noted the refusal to accept our representatives and have ourselves accepted it, we will focus on rebuilding our party and winning the next elections."
